Fan Shroud, Through 05/2010, Removing And Installing
Removal
-- On a vehicle with air suspension, activate vehicle lift mode. Refer to VEHICLE LIFT MODE .
-- Turn off the ignition and remove the key.
-- Carefully pull the engine cover off the 4 bolts one after the other -arrows-.
-- Pull the cover over the radiator -arrows-, to do this disconnect the lower coolant hose.
-- Remove the front noise insulation -1-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- for the lower air duct pipe.
Ignore -items 1 to 4-.
-- Open the clamp -arrow-, remove the air duct hose and move toward the back.
-- Remove the bolts -2, 4 and 5-.
Ignore -item 1, 3 and 6-.
-- Free up the coolant hose on the upper air guide pipe
-- Remove the screws -1, 2 and 4-, then remove the upper air guide pipe from the charge air cooler and move it toward the back with the air guide hose -3- still connected.
Danger of personal injury due to the coolant fan turning on by itself.
- Disconnect the connectors before working near the fan shroud.
-- Disconnect the connectors -1- and -2- and free up the electrical wires.
-- Press the fan shroud left and right locking tabs at the same time -arrow- and remove the fan shroud upward from the radiator.
Installation
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
The hose connections as well as the air guide pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before Installation.
Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory.
-- Press the fan shroud onto the radiator until it clicks into place.
-- Install the air guide pipes. Refer to AIR DUCT PIPES AND AIR DUCT HOSES OVERVIEW .
-- Install the air duct pipes with the connector coupling, refer to Figure.
-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- On a vehicle with air suspension, deactivate vehicle lift mode. Refer to VEHICLE LIFT MODE .
