Crankshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance

- Dial Gauge HolderVW387
- Dial Gauge - 0-10mmVAS6079
Procedure
Fig 1: Attaching Dial Indicator Together With VW 387 Dial Gauge Holder To Cylinder Block And Set Indicator Against Crankshaft Counterweight
Proceed as follows:
-- Attach the Dial Gauge - 0-10mmVAS6079 together with the Dial Gauge HolderVW387 to the cylinder block and set the indicator against the crankshaft counterweight.
-- Press crankshaft against dial gauge by hand.
-- Set dial gauge to "0".
-- Press crankshaft off dial indicator and read the value.
Axial clearance:
- New: 0.07 to 0.23 mm.
- Wear limit: 0.30 mm.
