Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hand Vacuum Pump VAS 6213
Test Conditions
- The hose from the turbocharger over Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve -N75- must have continuity to vacuum diaphragm.
- Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve -N75- OK
Work Procedure
-- Remove the engine cover, refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the lock carrier cover, refer to LOCK CARRIER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the air guide -2-.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Connect Hand Vacuum Pump VAS 6213 to vacuum diaphragm -arrow-.
-- Set the slide ring -1- on Hand Vacuum Pump VAS 6213 to position -B- for "vacuum".
The pressure must not exceed 700 mbar (10.15 psi). If the pressure is exceeded, the vacuum diaphragm can be damaged.
-- Operate Hand Vacuum Pump VAS 6213 several times and observe rods.
The linkage -A- must move approximately 300 mbar (4.35 psi) and be at approximately 700 mbar (10.15 psi) at end position.
The linkage stroke is approximately 10 mm.
If pressure cannot be raised using the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS 6213 or pressure drops immediately, check the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS 6213 and connecting hoses for leaks. If no malfunction can be found: Replacing turbocharger, refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
