Right Flange Shaft

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

Proceed as follows:

NOTE:

-- Remove noise insulation in center by loosening fasteners -1 through 4-.

-- Remove right noise insulation -arrows-.

-- Remove right drive axle heat shield -arrows-.

-- Remove right drive axle from transmission flange shaft. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Disconnect electrical connector -1- on oil level thermal sensor -G266-.

-- Unclip bracket -2- for electrical wire to oil level thermal sensor -G266- on subframe.

-- Place used oil collection and extraction device V.A.G 1782 under transmission.

-- Remove right flange shaft bolt by installing 2 bolts in flange and counter holding flange shaft with assembly lever.

-- Remove flange shaft with spring, thrust washer and tapered ring.

Installing 

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

-- Press flange shaft against spring force and tighten.

-- Install right drive axle. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Gear oil level, checking and topping off. Refer to GEAR OIL LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .
