Coolant Pump
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine Support Bridge 10 - 222 A
- Shackle 10 - 222 A /12
- Water Pump Wrench V.A.G 1590
- Hose Clip Pliers V.A.G 1921
- Drip Tray VAS 6208
- Locking Pin T10060 A
- Bolt M8x40
Removing
-- Remove ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT .
-- Remove air guide hose -1- from throttle valve control module -J338-.
Ignore -2 and 3-.
-- Secure 10 - 222 A /12 on right rear engine lifting eye.
-- Position 10 - 222 A on upper edge of web plate.
- Spindle is positioned back.
-- Engage spindle carabiner hook on shackle.
-- Lightly tension spindle.
-- Remove left subframe mounting bolts -arrows- on engine.
-- Drain coolant. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Remove right noise insulation -arrows-.
-- Lower engine with spindle approximately 60 mm.
-- If V.A.G 1590 was not already reworked, file the 3 roundings on wrench to dimension -a-.
- Dimension -a- = 1 mm.
-- Remove ribbed belt pulley while holding with V.A.G 1590.
With engine removed, coolant pump bolts can be reached through pulley holes. In this case, ribbed belt pulley must not be removed.
-- Remove bolts -1- for coolant pump -2-.
-- Tip coolant pump forward and out.
Installing
- Tightening specifications, refer to RIBBED BELT DRIVE COMPONENT OVERVIEW .
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
Replace O-ring.
-- Clean and/or smooth O-ring sealing surface.
-- Coat O-ring with coolant additive G12+.
-- Insert coolant pump -2-.
-- Tighten coolant pump bolts -1-.
-- Install ribbed belt pulley.
-- Install ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT .
-- Adjust subframe mount. Refer to SUBFRAME MOUNT, ADJUSTING .
-- Fill with coolant COOLING SYSTEM, DRAINING AND FILLING .
