Selector Lever Handle

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

Proceed as follows:

NOTE:

Remove selector lever handle together with selector lever boot.

-- Engage parking brake.

-- Place selector lever in position N.

-- Secure locking button in extended position with a cable tie -arrow- as shown in illustration.

-- Carefully pry out selector lever boot with a small screwdriver at side -arrow 1-.

-- Pull selector lever boot upwards at both sides -arrows 2 and 3-.

-- Fold selector lever boot -2- upward over selector lever handle -3-.

-- Open hose clamp -1-.

-- Remove selector lever handle together with selector lever boot -arrow- without touching locking button.

Installing 

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

NOTE:

To install, locking button on selector lever handle must be extended as far as stop and secured using a cable tie -arrow- or the assembly aid delivered from the factory for the new handle.

If the locking button was not secured, it must not be pulled out of the selector lever handle with mechanical tools. Instead, position a compressed air gun at the bottom of the handle and press the locking button out with compressed air and secure it.

-- Place selector lever handle completely on selector lever.

-- Remove cable ties or assembly aid.

-- Bring hose clamp -1- into installation position.

-- Clamp selector lever handle -2- securely to selector lever with hose clamp using Hose Clamp pliers V.A.G 1275.

-- Clip selector lever boot mounting frame -3- to boot trim.
