Muffler Assembly Overview

NOTE:

Heat shield lock washers can be loosened and tightened with a screwdriver. Tightening Specification: 2 Nm

  1. Bolt
    • 23 Nm
  2. Bracket for Exhaust System
  3. Center Muffler
  4. Retaining Loop
    • Replace if damaged
  5. Nut
    • 23 Nm
  6. Bracket for Exhaust System
  7. Bolt
    • 23 Nm
  8. Suspended Mount
    • Replace if damaged
  9. Bolt
    • 23 Nm
  10. Tunnel Brace
  11. Nut
    • Replace
    • 40 Nm
  12. Seals
    • Replace
  13. Oxygen Sensors Before Catalytic Converter
    • Threads on new oxygen sensors are coated with assembly paste
    • When re-installing a used oxygen sensor, coat threads with hot bolt paste.
    • Assembly paste or hot bolt paste must not get onto slots of sensor body.
    • Removal and installation, refer to Removal and Installation
  14. Oxygen Sensors Behind Catalytic Converter
    • Threads on new oxygen sensors are coated with assembly paste
    • When re-installing a used oxygen sensor, coat threads with hot bolt paste.
    • Assembly paste or hot bolt paste must not get onto slots of sensor body.
    • Removal and installation, refer to Removal and Installation
  15. Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converters and Front Muffler
    CAUTION:

    Risk of damaging decoupling elements.

    • Do not bend decoupling element in front exhaust pipe more than 10°.
  16. Nut
    • 23 Nm
  17. Clamping Sleeve
    • Before tightening, ensure exhaust system is tension-free EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING 
    • Installed location, refer to Fig 2
    • Tighten threaded connections evenly.
  18. Rear Muffler
  19. Retaining Loop
    • Replace if damaged
  20. Nut
    • 23 Nm
