Notes on repairs of CAN bus wires
- An unshielded two-strand wire - 1 - and - 2 - with a cross-section of 0.35 mm 2 or 0.5 mm 2 is used as CAN bus wire.
- CAN bus wires have the following color coding:
| CAN High wire, powertrain | orange/black |
| CAN High wire, Comfort | orange/green |
| CAN High wire, Infotainment | orange/violet |
| CAN Low wire, all | orange/brown |
- Wiring harness repairs may only be carried out using yellow wires. Mark repaired areas using yellow adhesive tape.
- During repair work, both bus wires must have the same length. When twisting together wires - 1 - and - 2 -, length of lay of - A - = 20 mm must be observed.
- While doing so, no section of wire must be greater than - B - = 50 mm without twisting of wires, e.g. in area of welded connectors - arrow -.
