Impact Member, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With Trailer Hitch: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the impact member and the trailer hitch and tighten the bolts, refer to Figure.

NOTE:

If the tightening sequence is not followed, the impact member will installed with trailer hitch under tension.

-- Seal the hole -arrow- inside the spare wheel well -2- with a plug -1-.

-- Warm the plug with a Hot Air Blower VAG1416 to prevent humidity from getting in.

CAUTION:

Danger of causing damage to the surround parts.

Be careful not to damage any other wires, plastic parts or insulation when using the hot air blower.
Always follow the instructions that come with the hot air blower.

-- Install the All Wheel Drive Control Module -J492-, refer to TRANSMISSION CONTROL COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW .

-- Install the luggage compartment side trim panel, refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANELS .

-- Install the rear bumper cover, refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
