Front Passenger Occupant Detection Sensor -G128-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing
- Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Remove the front seat on the passenger side:
- Standard seat and Sport seat (manual). Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL .
- Standard and Sport Power Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER .
-- Attach the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture VAS6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Separate the cover from the padding (seat pan). Refer to SEAT PAN COVER AND PADDING, SEPARATING, SEAT PAN WITHOUT SEAT DEPTH ADJUSTER .
Remove only enough of the cushion so that the passenger occupant detection system is accessible.
Standard Seat and Sport Seat (Manual or Power):
-- Remove the passenger occupant detection system connector.
-- Carefully remove passenger occupant detection system sensor -2- including circuit board -4- from seat cushion -1-.
Do not pay attention to the -arrows-.
Comfort Seat:
-- Carefully warm up the seat heating element -1- on the left side using theWiring Harness Repair Set - Hot Air Blower VAS1978/14A.
-- Remove the seat heating element -2- just far enough -arrow- until the passenger occupant detection system sensor -1- is free.
-- Remove the passenger occupant detection system connector.
-- Carefully remove seat occupant sensor -4- including circuit board -3- from seat Padding -1-.
Super Sport Seat:
-- Remove the passenger occupant detection system connector -2-.
-- Carefully remove passenger occupant detection system sensor -2- including circuit board -4- from seat Padding -1-.
