Clutch Master Cylinder, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Clutch Master or Slave Cylinder, Removal and Installation Information. Refer to CLUTCH MASTER OR CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION INFORMATION .
Danger of causing damage to electronic components.
- Complete the steps for disconnecting the battery.
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable -2-. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the seal -arrow-.
-- Remove the left part -3- or the entire plenum chamber cover (depending on the version). Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the engine compartment E-box. Refer to E-BOX, REMOVING AND INSTALLING , also see WIRING HARNESS REPAIR SET (Release Tool Set VAS1978/35) .
While performing the following work, make sure no brake fluid comes into contact with plenum chamber or with transmission below. If it does, clean the area thoroughly.
-- Clamp off the supply hose -2- to the brake fluid reservoir using the Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm 3094, then remove it from the clutch master cylinder -1- and seal it off.
-- Open the clip -3- with a screwdriver and pull it out.
-- Remove the hose/line assembly -4-.
The connector -5- remains connected.
-- Remove the over-center spring -2- ; refer to REMOVING .
Ignore -2- and -arrows A and B-.
-- Remove the pin -1- from the clutch pedal -3-.
-- Release the clutch master cylinder in direction of -arrow- using the Wrench - Ring 3355.
-- Remove the clutch master cylinder -1- and guide it out through the opening for the engine wiring harness.
-- Release and remove the connector -5-.
