Vehicles with an Automatic Transmission 0BK

-- Place the :VAS6208  underneath.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -3-, and remove the coolant hose from the ATF cooler and let the coolant drain out.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then tie up the ATF cooler -1- to the side with the coolant hose -2- still connected.

-- Always seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the :VAS6122  .

CAUTION:

There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with electrostatic discharge.

  • Always "discharge" the static electricity. Do this by touching a grounded object, for example vehicle ground, the vehicle or the hoist.
  • Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.

-- Turn the twist lock counter-clockwise -arrow- and disconnect the connector from the transmission.

-- Free up the wiring harness on the transmission.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -arrow-, remove the air duct hose and move it to the side.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- on the bracket for the B+ and Ground (GND) cable on the right longitudinal member.

-- Remove the nut -2- and bolt -3- for the front muffler.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the front exhaust pipe.

CAUTION:

The decoupling elements in the front muffler could be damaged.

  • Do not bend decoupling elements in front muffler more than 10°.

-- Loosen the threaded connections -arrows-, slide the clamping sleeve to the rear and remove the front muffler.

-- Remove the lower cover -1- from the transmission in the direction of -arrow-.

NOTE:

Turn the crankshaft only in the direction of engine rotation.

-- Remove the 3 drive plate bolts -arrow- while turning the crankshaft 120° further in the direction of engine rotation.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 6 through 11- that attach the engine to the transmission.

NOTE:

The automatic transmission 0BK is illustrated.

Bolted connections quantity and installation position for other transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS [For transmission(s) 0CK] .

Ignore item -A-.

CAUTION:

Risk of damage due to reversed running direction on a used ribbed belt.

  • Before removing ribbed belt, marking running direction with chalk or felt-tip pen for reinstallation later.

-- Turn the tensioner clockwise in direction of -arrow-, remove the ribbed belt from the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor belt pulley and then release the tension on the tensioner.

-- Remove the ribbed belt.

NOTE:

Ignore the :T10060A  .

-- Disconnect the connector -1- and free up the wire.

WARNING:

Refrigerant can cause serious personal injury.

  • Do not open the A/C system refrigerant circuit.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- on the A/C compressor.

CAUTION:

Danger of damaging the refrigerant lines and hoses.

  • Do not bend, twist or stretch the refrigerant lines and hoses.

-- Tie up the A/C compressor with the lines still connected.

-- Disconnect the connectors and free up the wires.

  1. For the Left Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N144-, Right Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N145- (Depending on the transmission)
  2. For After-Run Coolant Pump -V51-

-- Remove the coolant fan connector -1- from the bracket and disconnect it by sliding the retainer back in direction of -arrow- and pressing the release down.

-- Free up the electrical wiring harness to the coolant fan control module.

-- Remove engine bracket left and right bolt -arrow-.

-- Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to ATTACHMENTS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and air guide -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the air guide -2- from the lock carrier.

Ignore item -1-.

-- Open the clamp -2- and remove the air guide hose.

-- Remove the air filter housing -1- upward.

WARNING:

The fuel system is under pressure.

Risk of injury from fuel spraying out.

  • Wear protective eyewear.
  • Wear safety gloves.
  • Reduce the pressure: Place clean cloths around the connection point and carefully open the connection point.

-- Disconnect the fuel line -2-. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .

-- Loosen the clamp -1- and disconnect the hose from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister.

-- Open the clamps -1 and 2- and remove the coolant hoses.

NOTE:

Ignore item -3-.

-- Remove the air guide hose by loosening the hose clamps -arrows-.

-- Disconnect and free up the connector from the Charge Air Pressure Sensor -G31- -1-.

-- Open the clamps -1 and 3- and remove the coolant hoses.

Ignore item -2-.

-- Move the foam wedge -1- to the side.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the tower brace. Refer to SUSPENSION STRUT AND UPPER CONTROL ARM .

-- Release the retainer in direction of -arrow A- and open the cover in direction of -arrow B-.

-- Remove the nuts -3 and 4- and free up the wire.

-- Remove the connector -1- from the bracket and disconnect it.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and then remove Terminal 30 Wire Junction -TV2- from the plenum chamber bulkhead.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

-- Remove the nut -2- on the right longitudinal member and free up the GND wires.

-- Unlock the retainer -arrow-, open the wiring duct -1- and free up the wiring harness.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-, pull the filler tube -1- out of the windshield washer fluid reservoir and out of the opening in the body and move it to the right.

-- Remove the cap nut -2- and free up the GND cable.

-- Open the retainer in direction of -arrow- and remove the Engine Control Module -J623- -1- from the bracket and move it to the side.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the cover -1- from the plenum chamber E-box.

-- Disconnect the connectors -1- and remove the nut -2- for the wire.

-- Release the retainers in direction of -arrows- and remove the relay carrier with the fuse panel -3-.

-- Disengage the engine wiring harness from the plenum chamber E-box and free it up.

-- Release the retainers in direction of -arrows A- and remove the wiring bushing -1- upward in direction of -arrow B-.

-- Lay the wiring harness on the engine and secure the Engine Control Module -J623- so that it cannot fall.
