Vehicles with S tronic® Transmission 0CK
-- Loosen the hose clamp -2-, and remove the coolant hose from the transmission and let the coolant drain out.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1-, and remove the coolant hose from the left coolant pipe on the transmission.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the transmission fluid pump -1-.
Ignore the -arrows-.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- to do so push the locking mechanism -arrow B- and pull the locking bracket -2- in the direction of -arrow A-.
There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with electrostatic discharge.
- Always "discharge" the static electricity. Do this by touching a grounded object, for example vehicle ground, the vehicle or the hoist.
- Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.
-- Free up the wiring harness from the transmission and the crossmember.
-- Lift the clamps -1 and 2-, disconnect the coolant hoses and guide them through the plenum chamber bulkhead.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to Bulkhead .
-- Remove the bolts -2 to 5- for the transmission/engine connection.
The automatic transmission 0BK is illustrated.
Bolted connections quantity and installation position for other transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS [For transmission(s) 0CK] .
Ignore items -A-.
The bolt -2- attaches the starter to the transmission and has an additional spacer sleeve -arrow-.
-- Position the :10-222A on the upper wheel housing longitudinal member on the left and right side as shown.
-- Engage the :3147 on the transmission and the :10-222A/11 .
The installation location is shown with the engine removed.
Loose engine support bridge components could cause an accident.
- Secure the mounting hooks and pins on the engine sling with securing pins.
-- Slightly pretension transmission using engine support bridge spindle.
To be aligned to the center of gravity of the engine assembly, the hole rails of the lifting hook must be inserted as shown in the illustration.
-- Engage :2024A on engine and on :VAS6100 as shown in illustration.
-- Lift the engine until the engine mount is free.
-- Turn the :10-222A spindles.
Risk of damaging hose and wiring connections as well as engine compartment.
- Make sure all the hoses and lines between the engine, transmission, subframe and body have been disconnected.
- Carefully lift and guide the engine out of the engine compartment.
A second technician is needed while removing the engine to make sure the hood is opened all the way.
-- Lift the left and right locking springs -arrow- with a small screwdriver and remove the top of the gas-filled strut -1- from the ball pin -2-.
-- Remove the engine from the transmission and lift it out of the engine compartment.
-- Press the gas-filled struts back onto the ball studs.
