Overview - Evaporator Housing
The following illustration shows an evaporator housing with a service evaporator as it was installed for refrigerant R134a. For vehicles with refrigerant R1234yf, separable connection points may no longer be in the vehicle interior. Therefore the evaporator -Item 20- OVERVIEW - EVAPORATOR HOUSING only has permanently attached refrigerant pipes (-Item 2- OVERVIEW - EVAPORATOR HOUSING and -Item 5- OVERVIEW - EVAPORATOR HOUSING) for these vehicles. Refer to the Parts information.

- Refrigerant Pipe to Evaporator
- Refrigerant pipes are permanently connected to the evaporator at the factory. If a repair is required on a vehicle with refrigerant R134a, an evaporator is sent that has the refrigerant pipes secured to the evaporator via a connection point. Refer to EVAPORATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING and the Parts information.

- Not planned for vehicles with refrigerant R1234yf (and for vehicles with refrigerant R134a where the evaporator is not available with a connection point to the refrigerant pipes).NOTE:
For vehicles with refrigerant R1234yf, the refrigerant pipes are permanently attached to the evaporator. Since there cannot be any separating points in the vehicle interior, there cannot be an evaporator installed here with separating points to the refrigerant pipes.
For refrigerant R1234yf, there must not be any separable connection points in the refrigerant circuit in the vehicle interior (for example, separating points on the refrigerant lines to the evaporator). Therefore the heater and A/C unit must always be removed (with the evaporator housing) on these vehicles and the evaporator with the refrigerant lines must be completely replaced. Refer to the Parts information and EVAPORATOR HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

- Grommet
- With a support ring for sealing the holes for the refrigerant lines through the plenum chamber bulkhead

- Retaining Plate
- To secure the refrigerant line and secure the expansion valve
- Expansion Valve

- Support Ring
- The boot contact pressure increases on the plenum chamber bulkhead
