Pinpoint Test An : DTC U0196:00

- AN1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER'S CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify if there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes GO to AN2. No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - AN2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a network test.
Does the audio RCU module pass the network test?
Yes GO to AN3. No REFER to Module Communications Network . - AN3 RETRIEVE THE AUDIO RCU MODULE DTCs
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the audio RCU module self-test.
Are any non-network DTCs recorded in the audio RCU module?
Yes GO to AN4. No REFER to the Audio RCU Module DTC Chart . - AN4 RECHECK FOR DTC U0196:00
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all CMDTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the APIM CMDTCs.
Is DTC U0196:00 still set in the APIM ?
Yes GO to AN5. No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - AN5 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE APIM SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.
Are any non-network DTCs recorded?
Yes REFER to the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) DTC Chart . No GO to AN6. - AN6 CHECK FOR CORRECT AUDIO RCU MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the audio RCU module connector.
- Repair:
- Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
- Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
- Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
- Reconnect the audio RCU module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new audio RCU module. REFER to Audio Rear Control Unit (RCU) Module . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
