Pinpoint Test N : The Visual Park Aid Alert Is Inoperative

  1. N1 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a network test.

    Do all modules pass the network test? 

    Yes  GO to  N2.
    No  Module Communications Network .
  2. N2 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE PAM SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PAM self-test.

    Are any PAM DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Parking Aid .
    No  GO to  N3.
  3. N3 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE Trailer Module (TRM) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Trailer Module (TRM) self-test.

    Are any Trailer Module (TRM) DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Exterior Lighting .
    No  GO to  N4.
  4. N4 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any BCM DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules .
    No  GO to  N5.
  5. N5 CHECK FOR CORRECT CAMERA OPERATION

    • Connect all disconnected connectors.
    • Disconnect the camera connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the camera connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new rear camera. REFER to Video Camera - Expedition  .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
