Removal [08/2013 - ]

  1. PRECAUTION 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2013 - ] 

    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal notices before proceeding with work. Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2013 - ] .

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 2
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column) 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2013 - ] .

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column) 
    1. Disable the auto away/return function by changing the customize parameter. Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [08/2013 - ] .
      NOTE:

      Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto away/return function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing this operation.

      HINT: 

      Performing the above operation disables the auto away/return function when the power switch is turned off.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
    3. Turn the power switch off and disconnect the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2013 - ] .

  5. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]

  6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 3
  7. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column)  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 8
  8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column)  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 9
  9. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 10
  10. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 11
  11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws <E>.

    2. Apply protective tape to the area shown in the illustration.

    3. Using a molding remover, disengage the 5 claws and 2 guides as shown in the illustration.

    4. Disconnect the connector to remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
  12. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH 
    1. Apply protective tape to the area shown in the illustration.

    2. Using a molding remover, disengage the 10 claws and 2 clips as shown in the illustration.

    3. Disconnect the connector to remove the center instrument cluster finish panel garnish.
  13. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 11 claws and clip as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the connector to remove the No. 2 instrument panel register assembly.
  14. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL 
    1. Insert a molding remover as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disengage the 2 claws and 5 clips and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel as shown in the illustration.

  15. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (for Radio Receiver Type)  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 9
  16. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (for Radio and Display Type)  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 9
  17. REMOVE MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (for Multi-Media Module Receiver Type)  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 9
  18. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  See step  4
  19. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH  See step  5
  20. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH  See step  6
  21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 claws and 4 clips as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the instrument side panel LH as shown in the illustration.

  22. DISCONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the claw and 2 guides to disconnect the hood lock control lever sub-assembly.

  23. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts <B>.

    2. Disengage the 12 claws, 2 clips and guide.

    3. Disconnect each connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel finish panel.
  24. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 6
  25. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws.

    2. Disconnect each connector to remove the No. 1 switch hole base.
  26. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws and 2 guides to remove the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.

  27. REMOVE SWITCH BASE 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws.

    2. Disconnect the connector to remove the switch base.
  28. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 clips.

    2. Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.

    3. Insert a molding remover as shown in the illustration.

    4. Pull the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 2 clips and 5 guides, and remove the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

  29. REMOVE ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY (for Radio Receiver Type)  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 2
  30. REMOVE MULTI-DISPLAY ASSEMBLY (except Radio Receiver Type)  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 2
  31. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 

  32. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side See step  4.

  33. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side See step  5.

  34. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side See step  6.

  35. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 claws and 4 clips as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the instrument side panel RH as shown in the illustration.

  36. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the claw as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disengage the 4 clips and 2 guides as shown in the illustration.

    3. Disconnect the connector to remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.
  37. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 9
  38. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR COVER 
    1. Open the lower instrument panel sub-assembly door as shown in the illustration.

    2. Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the instrument panel box door cover as shown in the illustration.

  39. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 screws <E>.

    2. Close the lower instrument panel sub-assembly door as shown in the illustration.

    3. Remove the 2 screws <E>.

    4. Disengage the 5 claws as shown in the illustration.

    5. Disconnect each connector and remove the lower instrument panel sub-assembly.
  40. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws, 2 clips and 2 guides and remove the No. 3 instrument panel register assembly.

  41. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH  See step  7
  42. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 clips as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disengage the 3 guides to remove the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
  43. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 4
  44. REMOVE NO. 1 SPEAKER OPENING COVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 claws and 4 clips and remove the No. 1 speaker opening cover assembly as shown in the illustration.

  46. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side See step  7.

  47. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 clips as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disengage the 3 guides to remove the No. 2 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
  48. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 4 .

  49. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 8 claws to remove the instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.

  50. DISCONNECT NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 3
  51. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect each connector.

      *1 Cooler (Room Temp. Sensor) Thermistor - -
    2. Disengage each clamp.
    3. Disengage the 2 claws to disconnect the cooler (room temp. sensor) thermistor.
    4. Remove the 2 instrument panel passenger airbag assembly bolts <A>.

      *1 Instrument Panel Passenger Airbag Assembly Bolt <A> *2 Bolt <C>
      *3 Nut <F> *4 Clip
    5. Remove the 4 bolts <C> and nut <F>.
    6. Remove the 3 clips.
    7. Disengage the 4 guides and remove the instrument panel safety pad assembly as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the instrument panel safety pad assembly.
      • Do not allow the wire harnesses to interfere with the surrounding parts.
