Lubrication system components, removing and installing

NOTE:
  • If large quantities of metal particles or other deposits (caused, for example, by partial seizure of the crankshaft or connecting rod damage) are found in the engine oil, the oil passages must be cleaned thoroughly and the oil cooler replaced in order to prevent further damage from re-occurring.

NOTE:
  • The engine is filled at the factory with engine oil complying to VW standard 502 00. This engine oil is designed for long maintenance intervals. The engine oils listed below may also be used.
  • The oil must be changed every 12 months or every 15,000 km and the Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) must be programmed accordingly. Procedure: → .
