-- Remove the front trim panel. Refer to FRONT TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Lower the convertible top into the convertible top compartment.

-- Remove the front seal. Refer to FRONT CONVERTIBLE TOP SEAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Starting from the side -arrow-, remove the convertible top cover -1- from the frame using the :3409  .

-- Remove the bolts -1- from the retaining strip -2- for the convertible top cover/convertible top headliner -arrows-.

-- Remove the retaining strip -1- to the side -arrow- from the convertible top cover/convertible top headliner.

-- Attach commercially available clamping bracket locking pliers -3- with felt strip -1, 2- to protect the convertible top cover as shown in the illustration.

-- Remove the convertible top cover from the front rail.

-- Remove the convertible top cover -1- from the front rail -2- and fold it toward the rear -arrow-.

-- Remove the hooks -arrow- from the tension cable -1- sideways from the front roof guide.

-- Remove the blind rivet -arrows- from the retaining straps -1 and 2- and strike the rivet shaft.

-- Remove the rear seal from the bracket. Refer to REAR CONVERTIBLE TOP SEAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the convertible top cover -1- from the rear retaining strip using the commercially available locking pliers.

-- Remove the bottom of the convertible top cover and the reinforcement -1- from the retaining strip -2-.

-- Remove the convertible top headliner from the bracket starting by the straps on the outside and using pliers -arrow-.

-- Remove the convertible top headliner from the rear window.

-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the antenna amplifier and unclip the wire -1- from the cable guides.

-- Cut through the cable tie -1- for the rear window heater.

-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the rear window.

-- Lift the bracket and remove the cover retaining strip from the frame.

• Have a second technician counterhold the bracket.

-- For vehicles with an "Acoustic cover", Remove the rear interior lamp -2-. Refer to CONTROLS .

-- Remove the tensioning strap -3- from the frame -1- and free it up from the convertible top cover.

-- Disconnect the right connector -1- from the "rail 4".

-- Remove the rod -arrow- from the loop in the convertible top headliner.

• The retaining strap -1- is thereby removed from the convertible top headliner.

-- Push down the clip -1- and remove the bolt from the rear window mount on the opposite side.

When installing check the position of the lever.

-- Remove the washer -1-.

• To do this, the tension cable must be removed over both sides of the chafe protection -1- -arrows-.

-- Tilt the rear window upward and lay it on the convertible top cover.

-- Pull the guide cable -1- out through the guides -2-.

-- Pull the tension cable -1- to the side out of its pocket.

-- Free up the retaining strap from "rail 4" and remove it from the rail mount.

-- Open the convertible top until the front rail is vertical.

-- Remove the convertible top cover toward the right in the driving direction. To do this, remove the guide strap -1- in direction of -arrow- from the opening in "rail 4" -arrow-.

-- Unthread the convertible top cover -2- sideways out of "rails 1, 2, 3" in direction of -arrow- toward the right.
