Convertible Top Cover, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following: 

-- Inspect all of the rails for sharp edges on the right openings and deburr them if necessary.

-- Coat all of the rails on the openings with a little Vaseline.

-- Check the seal retaining clips for completeness and make them complete if necessary.

• The retaining clips must sit all the way in the mounts.

Insert the convertible top cover in the following sequence: 

1. Move the mount for the rear window into position.

2. Insert the securing strap into "bow 4".

3. Insert the securing strap into "bow 3".

4. Insert the securing strap into "bow 2".

5. Insert the securing strap into "bow 1".

6. Guide the molding on "bow 2" and guide the tension cable into "bow 4" to pull the convertible top toward the left.

7. Tighten the securing strap on "bow 4" and secure it with adhesive tape.

8. Attach the cable tie for the rear window defogger wire making sure that the expanding clip is facing outward.

-- The spacers -1- must be inserted as shown in the illustration when inserting the bolts into the rear window mounts.

-- Route the tension- and guide cables. Refer to OVERVIEW - CONVERTIBLE TOP .

-- Install the rear interior lamp. Refer to CONTROLS .

-- Install the rear seal. Refer to REAR CONVERTIBLE TOP SEAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the retaining strip for the convertible top cover/convertible top headliner. Refer to CONVERTIBLE TOP HEADLINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the front seal. Refer to FRONT CONVERTIBLE TOP SEAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the front trim. Refer to FRONT TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
