Active Steering Safety Lock (Locking Magnet): Installing: Notes
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 19 other vehicles, including the 2017 Audi S5, 2017 Audi A5 Quattro, 2016 Audi S5, 2016 Audi A5 Quattro, and 2015 Audi S5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Update the active steering control module -J792- software using the vehicle diagnosis tester after replacing the locking magnet.
- Transfer the marking from the old magnet onto the new one if a new locking magnet is being installed.
-- Install the new locking magnet as shown in the following table and secure it with both new screws -1 and 2- (use the supplied tool).

-- Connect the connector to the locking magnet.
-- Erase the DTC memory.
-- Perform an initializing drive - turn the vehicle 45° to the left/right from the straight-ahead position.
