Removal And Installation: Headliner: Removal

  1. Remove the following items:

    1. On both sides. Remove the A-pillar trim panel. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
    2. On both sides. Remove the B-pillar trim panel. Refer to: B-Pillar Trim Panel .
    3. On both sides. Remove the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to: C-Pillar Trim Panel .
    4. On both sides. Remove the D-pillar trim panel. Refer to: D-Pillar Trim Panel - Short Wheelbase . Refer to: D-Pillar Trim Panel - Long Wheelbase .
    5. On RH side. Remove the front seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
    6. Remove the glove compartment. Refer to: Glove Compartment .

  2. Position the headliner wiring harness aside.

    1. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness.
    2. Release the headliner wiring harness clips.

  3. On LH side. Position the headliner wiring harness aside.

    1. Disconnect headliner wiring harness electrical connector.
    2. Release the headliner wiring harness retainers.

  4. On RH side. Position the headliner wiring harness aside.

    1. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness electrical connector.
    2. Release the headliner wiring harness retainers.
    3. Feed the headliner wiring harness up past the instrument panel.

    Vehicles with image processing module 

  5. Release the clips and remove the IPMA cover.

  6. Disconnect the IPMA and the rain sensor wiring harness electrical connectors.

    All vehicles 

  7. If equipped. Disconnect the rear view mirror electrical connector.

  8. If equipped. Release the clips and remove the rain sensor outer covers.

  9. If equipped. Disconnect the rain sensor electrical connectors.

  10. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

    On both sides. Remove the sun visor.

    1. Remove the bolt cover.
    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Remove the sun visor.
    4. Disconnect the sun visor electrical connector.

    On both sides. Remove the bolt and the sun visor clip.

  12. On RH side. Remove the front passenger assist handle.

    1. Position the front passenger assist handle down.
    2. Remove the bolt covers.
    3. Remove the bolts.

    On both sides. Remove the rear passenger assist handle.

    1. Position the rear passenger assist handle down.
    2. Remove the bolt covers.
    3. Remove the bolts.

    On both sides. Remove the rear coat hook.

    1. Position the rear coat hook down.
    2. Remove the bolt.

    Long wheel base 

  15. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

    On both sides. Remove the third row outer seatbelt retractor D-ring bolt cover.

    On both sides. Remove the third row outer seatbelt retractor D-ring bolt.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    On both sides. Remove the pin-type retainer and the third row outer seatbelt retractor bracket cover. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover.

  18. Disconnect the third row center seatbelt retractor from the third row center seatbelt retractor mini-buckle.

    1. Press the release button. Use the General Equipment: Flat-Bladed Screwdriver
    2. Release the third row center seatbelt retractor.

  19. Remove the third row center seatbelt retractor cover.

    1. Release the clips. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
    2. Slide cover forward and down to release the rear tab.
    3. Feed the third row center seatbelt through.

    All vehicles 

  20. On both sides. Position the second row seat backrest in the full flat position.

    Release the magnets and lower the headliner.
