Transmission Fluid Cooler: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting .
  2. Remove the bolts, the retainer and the shield.

  3. Position the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube heat shield aside.

  4. Remove the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube secondary latch.

  5. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube from the transmission fluid cooler. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

  6. Position the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube heat shield aside.

  7. Remove the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube secondary latch.

  8. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube from the transmission fluid cooler. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

  9. Clamp the transmission fluid cooler coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  10. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Release the quick connect coupling and disconnect the coolant hose from the transmission fluid cooler.

  11. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

    Remove the transmission fluid cooler.

    1. Release the coolant hose clamp.
    2. Remove the transmission fluid cooler bolts.
    3. Slide the transmission fluid cooler off the coolant hose and remove.
