Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S): Removal

Right hand (RH) Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 

  1. Remove the engine appearance cover retainers, release the engine appearance cover from the rear retainers and then remove the engine appearance cover.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  2. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.

  3. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting .
  4. If equipped, remove the underbody shield.

  5. Apply penetrating oil to sensor, using the special tool remove the HO2S.Use Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A) Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.

    Material: Motorcraft® Penetrating and Lock Lubricant / XL-1

    Left hand (LH) Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 

  6. Remove the engine appearance cover retainers, release the engine appearance cover from the rear retainers and then remove the engine appearance cover.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  8. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting .
