Brake Shield

Stub Axle Carrier
Bracket
- For brake hose and wire

- Replace after removing

Brake Hose
- 20 Nm (brake hose to brake caliper)
- Replace if damaged
- Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly. Make sure the brake hose is not blocked, bent or rubbing against the vehicle.
- Make sure that tabs are properly seated in the grooves on the bracket.
Bracket
- For brake hose
Spring
- Replace if damaged
Brake Line
- 14 Nm (brake line to brake hose)
Rivet
- Quantity: 2
Bolt
- 9 Nm
- Quantity: 4
Balance Weight
- Quantity: 2
Protective Cap
Bleed Screw
- 13 Nm
Brake Pad Wear Sensor
- Replace if damaged
- Left Front Brake Pad Wear Sensor -G34- /Right Front Brake Pad Wear Sensor -G35-
- Cannot be removed without being damaged
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE PAD WEAR INDICATOR WIRE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, CERAMIC BRAKES, 1LN/1LW .
Bracket
- Replace if damaged
- For brake pad wear sensor electrical wire
- Make sure then fits correctly inside the brake caliper
Brake Pad Springs
- Replace when pads are replaced.
- Note the installation position
- Make sure then fits correctly inside the brake caliper
Brake Pads
- Always replace on both sides of the axle
- Checking pad thickness. Refer to appropriate service information.
- Allocation. Refer to the parts information.
- Note the installation position
  Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
Brake Caliper
- 24 Nm (guide pin for the brake pads). Refer to Fig 2.
- May not be removed from the brake carrier. Refer to Fig 2
- Allocation. Refer to the parts information.

  Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REPLACING
- Servicing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER PISTON, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, 1LU/1LV/1LM/1LX/1LN/1LW .
  NOTE:
  Depending on the model there are two balance weights installed in each front brake caliper.
  
  Refer to OVERVIEW - BRAKE CALIPER BALANCE WEIGHT
Brake Rotor
- Always replace on both sides of the axle
- Allocation. Refer to the parts information.
- Brake Rotor Thickness. Refer to CERAMIC BRAKE ROTOR, DETERMINING WEAR .
- Additionally check for:
  - Cracks in connection area. Refer to CRACKS IN CERAMIC BRAKE ROTOR CONNECTION AREA .
  - Chamfer. Refer to CHAMFER .
  - Nicks. Refer to NICKS ON CERAMIC BRAKE ROTOR .
  - Crack in cooling channel. Refer to CRACK IN COOLING CHANNEL .
- Make note of the direction of travel
  Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING

- 10 Nm
Bolt
- 10 Nm
- Quantity: 4

NOTE:

Coat the brake pad - backing plate with grease pate and coat the guide pin with lithium grease. Refer to the parts information.

CAUTION:

Risk of malfunction.

Do not loosen the bolts -arrows- on the brake caliper.
Replace the guide pins -B arrows- after removing.

Tighten the guide pin -B- to 24 Nm.
