Gear Recognition Sensor -G604-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

-- Remove the rear noise insulation by loosening the fasteners -2- and -3-

NOTE:

Do not bend the flex joint in the front exhaust pipe more than 10° or it will be damaged.

-- Disconnect exhaust system at double clamp -arrows-.

-- Move the front exhaust pipe to the side and secure it on the rear section of the exhaust system (clamping sleeve) with wire.

-- Mount the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS6931 thrust plate together with the lower Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support T10337 on the tunnel crossmember.

-- Lift the transmission slightly using the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS6931.

WARNING:

There is the risk of an accident.

The Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS6931 may only be used during assembly and must not sit unsupervised under the vehicle.

-- Remove the bolts from the tunnel crossmember -arrows-.

-- Lower the transmission to dimension -a- using the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS6931.

Dimension -a- = maximum 80 mm.

There Are Different Connectors to the Gear Recognition Sensor -G604-.

Disconnect the connectors as follows:

-- Press the lock -1- downward and disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Pry out lock -1- approximately 3 mm with a screwdriver in direction of -arrow A-.

-- Press the lock -1- downward in direction of -arrow B- and disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and remove the Gear Recognition Sensor -G604- -3-.
