Input Shaft Seal, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Puller - Crankshaft/Power Steering Seal T20143/1
• Seal Installer - Shaft Seal T40166
• Sealing Grease G 052 128 A1

• Transmission removed. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the clutch module. Refer to CLUTCH MODULE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the clutch release lever, release bearing and guide sleeve. Refer to CLUTCH RELEASE MECHANISM, SERVICING .

-- Pry out the input shaft seal.

-- Lightly oil outer circumference of new shaft seal for the input shaft.

-- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lip halfway with Sealing Grease G 052 128 A1.

-- Install the shaft seal all the way. Be careful not to bend it.

-- Install the guide sleeve, clutch release lever and release bearing. Refer to CLUTCH RELEASE MECHANISM, SERVICING .

-- Install the clutch module. Refer to CLUTCH MODULE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
