Removing And Installing

-- Tilt the transmission toward the rear using the Gearbox Support T40173 so that no transmission fluid drains out.

-- Remove right flange shaft by fastening Puller - Flanged Shaft T10037 to transmission housing -arrow-.

Install the right flange shaft.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Always replace the flange shaft circlip -A-.

-- Clamp the flange shaft in a vise with jaw protectors. Remove the old circlip from the groove in the flange shaft using the new circlip -A-.

-- Check the right flange shaft seal -arrow- for damage and replace it if necessary. Refer to RIGHT SEAL, REPLACING .

-- Clean the space between the sealing and dust lip and fill halfway with Sealing Grease G 052 128 A1.

-- Drive in the flange shaft using the Bearing/Bushing Installer - Multiple Use VW295.

NOTE:

If any transmission fluid leaks out, the transmission fluid must be refilled after installing the transmission. Checking the oil level. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
