Overview - Differential

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:

Always replace both differential bearings together.

Adjustments are required when replacing components marked with 1) . The differential mounting is installed with two tapered roller bearings (standard bearing) through transmission production date 08/14/2011.

Adjustments are required when replacing components marked with 2) . The differential mounting is installed with 1 tapered roller bearing and 1 angular contact ball bearing (efficient bearing) from transmission production date 08/15/2011.

With the exception of the tapered roller bearing/angular contact ball bearing, none of the differential components can be replaced at this time. Bearings and adjustment shims allocation. Allocate correct components. .

  1. Transmission Housing
  2. Shim "S2 "
    • Pay attention to the thickness
    • If the differential tapered roller bearing is replaced, the thickness must be determined again. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL, ADJUSTING .
  3. Left Tapered Roller Bearing Outer Race 1)
  4. Left Tapered Bearing Inner Race 1)
    • Standard bearings: the cage for the rollers are made of metal.
  5. Differential with Ring Gear
    • The ring gear cannot be removed from the differential.
    • The differential bevel gears cannot be replaced.
  6. Right Tapered Bearing Inner Race 1)
  7. Right Tapered Roller Bearing Outer Race 1)
  8. Shim "S1 "
    • Pay attention to the thickness
    • If the differential tapered roller bearing or the cover for the front final drive -item  9- is replaced the thickness must be determined again. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL, ADJUSTING .
  9. Final Drive Cover1)
  10. Final Drive Cover 2)
    • For differential bearings with efficiency bearing
    • When replacing the shim "S1 " -item  11- must be determined again. Refer to FINAL DRIVE COVER, REPLACING .
  11. Shim "S1 "
    • Pay attention to the thickness
    • If the differential bearing or the cover for the front final drive is replaced -item  10-, the thickness must be determined again. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL, ADJUSTING .
  12. Angular Contact Ball Bearing Outer Race 2)
  13. Angular Contact Ball Bearing Inner Race 2)

    Efficiency bearing

    • From transmission production date 08/15/2011
  14. Tapered Roller Bearing Inner Race 2)

    Efficiency bearing

    • The roller cage is made up of plastic.
    • From transmission production date 08/15/2011
  15. Taper Roller Bearing Outer Race 2)
  16. Shim "S2 "
    • Pay attention to the thickness
    • When replacing the differential bearing, the thickness must be determined again. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL, ADJUSTING .
