Battery, Visual Inspection

  • A lose battery retaining bracket can damage the battery housing and allow battery acid to leak.
  • A battery that is mounted incorrectly can sustain vibration damage resulting in damage to the battery plates.
  • Battery retaining bracket bolt tightening torque depends on model and application. Refer to appropriate model Electrical Equipment Repair Manual.

Risk of malfunction in the electrical system or wiring burn.

  • Wiring connection contact is not guaranteed if the battery terminals are damaged or the battery clamps are loose. Check the condition of the battery terminals; battery terminal clamp and auxiliary clamp tightening torque → 27 BATTERY, STARTER, GENERATOR, CRUISE CONTROL .
  • Risk of corrosion due to leaking battery acid.
  • To ensure the various battery connection systems are free of leaks, the batterys original sealing plugs must be installed in the battery openings. Only replace missing or damaged sealing plugs with the same type of original plugs.
  • The sealing plugs must be equipped with an O-ring.
