DTC P0351: Ignition Coil "A" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0352: Ignition Coil "B" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0353: Ignition Coil "C" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0354: Ignition Coil "D" Primary / Secondary Circuit [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D33-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D36-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D34-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D39-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connectors.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D33-1 (+B) - D33-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      D36-1 (+B) - D36-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      D34-1 (+B) - D34-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      D39-1 (+B) - D39-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D33-2 (IGF) - D24-51 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      D36-2 (IGF) - D24-51 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      D34-2 (IGF) - D24-51 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      D39-2 (IGF) - D24-51 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      D33-3 (IGT1) - D24-57 (IGT1) Always Below 1 Ω
      D36-3 (IGT2) - D24-56 (IGT2) Always Below 1 Ω
      D34-3 (IGT3) - D24-55 (IGT3) Always Below 1 Ω
      D39-3 (IGT4) - D24-54 (IGT4) Always Below 1 Ω
      D33-3 (IGT1) or D24-57 (IGT1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D36-3 (IGT2) or D24-56 (IGT2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D34-3 (IGT3) or D24-55 (IGT3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D39-3 (IGT4) or D24-54 (IGT4) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D33-2 (IGF), D36-2 (IGF), D34-2 (IGF), D39-2 (IGF) or D24-51 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0351, P0352, P0353 OR P0354) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .
    5. Shuffle the arrangement of the ignition coil assemblies (among No. 1 to No. 4 cylinders).
      NOTE:

      Do not change the location of the connectors.

    6. Perform a simulation test.
    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    8. Read the DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Same DTC output A
      Different ignition coil DTC output B

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the ignition coil assembly. Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2013 - ] .

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY - IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connectors.
    2. Remove the No. 1 integration relay from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D33-1 (+B) - 1A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D36-1 (+B) - 1A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D34-1 (+B) - 1A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D39-1 (+B) - 1A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D33-1 (+B), D36-1 (+B), D34-1 (+B), D39-1 (+B) or 1A-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. REPLACE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  7. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  8. REPLACE NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]
