Parking brake handle, removing and installing
Removing
- Remove center console extension. →
- 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT
- 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT for BODY INTERIOR - CABRIOLET
- Release handle - 1 - with a screwdriver - 3 - and remove.
- Remove cover - 4 - and handle - 1 -.
- Remove hex bolts - 2 - and remove carrier - 1 - (tightening torque: 6 Nm).
With two cables attached
- Insert screwdriver into release opening.
- Push screwdriver in direction of "center adjustment".
- Keep screwdriver in this position and slowly operate parking brake lever.
NOTE:
- Make sure that the cable eyelets do not come off the hooks.
- Remove screwdriver.
- Unhook parking brake cables.
With one cable attached
- Release mechanism with a screwdriver - 2 - , at the same time pressing back the second spring-loaded hook - 1 - with another screwdriver.
- Remove collar nuts - 1 - (tightening torque 25 Nm).
- Disconnect parking brake contact switch.
- Remove parking brake lever - 2 - from mounting plate.
Resetting adjustment mechanism
- Clamp spring-loaded hook in a vise.

- Release mechanism with screwdriver - 2 - , at the same time pressing back second spring-loaded hook with another screwdriver.
Installing
- Installation is in reverse order of removal.
- Install center console extension. →

- 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT for BODY INTERIOR - CABRIOLET
- Hand tighten both nuts - 1 -.
NOTE:
- The rear nut can be accessed through the ashtray opening, and the front one through a opening in the bottom of the storage compartment.
- Align parking brake cable so that it is in the middle of the recess for the center console.
- Tighten nuts, tightening torque: 25 Nm
- Adjust parking brake → Parking brake, adjusting .
