Brake pads, removing and installing

Removing

NOTE:

If reusing brake pads, mark location. Install in same position when installing otherwise uneven braking will occur!

Remove wheels.

Secure brake disc with a wheel bolt.

Disconnect connector - 1 - for brake pad wear indicator.
Lift fixing latch somewhat on the lower part of connector - 2 - and turn 90°.
Pull lower part of connector from holder.

Remove retaining springs - arrows -.

Before pressing piston back, draw off brake fluid from reservoir using a bleeder bottle. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair work.

Press brake pads away from brake disc and then remove from brake caliper housing.

Installing

Before inserting new brake pads, press piston back into the cylinder using the piston resetting tool. Before pressing the piston back, draw off brake fluid from the reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair work.

Press piston back into caliper housing.
Insert brake pads in brake caliper housing.

Brake pads are directional and specific to each vehicle side. Observe markings on dampening sheet.

Install retaining springs - arrows -.
Press retaining springs into position and drive brake pad retaining pins in to stop.

Insert brake wear indicator connector and wire - arrow - into bracket on brake caliper.
Join connector for brake wear indicator.

Mount wheels → 44 - WHEELS, TIRES, VEHICLE ALIGNMENT .

NOTE:

After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
After changing brake pads check brake fluid level.
