Oil Pan Lower Section, Removing And Installing: Removal
-- Remove the left coolant pipe, refer to LEFT COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the stabilizer bar. Refer to STABILIZER BAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the ribbed belt tensioner. Refer to RIBBED BELT TENSIONER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Drain engine oil. Refer to Maintenance Booklet 406.
-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove engine bracket left and right nuts -arrows-.
-- Remove the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to Wheel Housing Liners .
-- Remove the nuts and screws -arrows- on the refrigerant line clamps.
To position the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support 1910-222A/19 on the longitudinal members, move the refrigerant lines slightly to the side.
-- Mount the Engine Support Bridge 10-222A with the Engine Supports T40091/3 and 2 spindles onto bolted fender edges.
- The spindles are positioned forward.
-- Attach both spindles to the rear engine lifting eyes.
-- Install the other components of the Engine Support Bridge 10-222A as illustrated; when doing this, place the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support 1910-222A/19 on the notches in the longitudinal members.
-- Slide Support T40091/2 into both Connectors T40093/5 with Slide T40093/4.
Risk of accident due to loose supporting elements.
- Secure the Support T40091/2 with connector pins and Slide T40093/4.
-- Install the Engine Support T10014 into the hole in the ribbed belt tensioning element.
-- Remove eyelet for Engine Sling 2024A.
-- Install the bolt -1- into the center hole in the engine sling and secure it with a cotter pin.
-- Attach the engine sling bolt to the front spindle of the engine support bridge.
-- Install the Engine Sling - Engine Bracket 2024A/1 to the left side of the engine sling.
-- Attach the Engine Sling 2024A to the front right engine lifting eye and to the Engine Support T10014.
Risk of accident due to unsecured engine sling.
- Secure the mounting hooks and pins on the engine support bridge using securing pins -arrows-.
-- Raise engine until engine supports are above engine bracket threaded pins and evenly tension both spindles to achieve even weight distribution.
-- Place the Engine/Gearbox Jack VAG1383A under the subframe.
The subframe could cause an accident if it is not secured.
- Do not loosen the subframe bolts -1- and -2-.
-- Remove the bolts -4- and carefully lower the subframe with the Engine/Gearbox Jack VAG1383A.
-- Remove the engine carrier bolts -3- and place the engine carrier on the subframe.
-- Disconnect the connector on the Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266- -1-.
-- Remove the bolts and loosen the oil pan lower part -arrow-.
Risk of contamination from the engine oil.
- Hold the oil pan lower part horizontally to prevent any remaining oil from running out.
