Camshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Dial Gauge Holder VW387
- Dial Gauge - 0-10mm VAS6079
Procedure
-- Remove the guide frame, refer to LEFT CYLINDER HEAD CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Secure the Dial Gauge - 0-10mm VAS6079 on the cylinder head with the Dial Gauge Holder VW387 as illustrated.
-- Determine the axial play on the intake camshaft -arrows-.
- Specified value: 0.03 to 0.08 mm.
- Wear limit 0.12 mm.
-- Determine the axial play on the exhaust camshaft -arrows-.

- Specified value: 0.03 to 0.08 mm.
- Wear limit 0.12 mm.
