Camshaft Seal, Removing And Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Puller - Camshaft Seal 2085
Wrench - Pin Type 3036
M10 x 1.25 x 40 hex bolt from the Seal Installer - Camshaft Installer Kit 3241
Seal Installer - Crankshaft Seal T10053
Puller - Toothed Belt Pulley T10320

Procedure

Tightening specification. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD OVERVIEW .

-- Carefully pull the engine cover off the 4 bolts one after the other -arrows-.

-- Remove the intake manifold upper section. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the high pressure pump toothed belt. Refer to HIGH PRESSURE PUMP TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen the toothed belt drive sprocket bolt -1- two turns using the Wrench - Pin Type 3036.

-- Remove the toothed belt drive sprocket using the Puller - Toothed Belt Pulley T10320.

-- Turn the inner part of the Puller - Camshaft Seal 2085 3 turns from the outer part and lock the inner part with the knurled bolt.

-- Lubricate the seal remover threaded head, position it, and then install it into the shaft seal as far as possible using strong force.

-- Loosen the knurled bolt and rotate the inner section against the camshaft until the shaft seal is removed.

-- Secure the seal remover in a vise at the flat spots and remove the seal using pliers.

-- Clean the running and sealing surface.

-- Install the new seal all the way using the pressure sleeve from the Seal Installer - Crankshaft Seal T10053 suing the hex head bolt M10 x 1, 25 x 40 -arrow- from the Seal Installer - Camshaft Installer Kit 3241.

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

-- Install the high pressure pump toothed belt and the intake manifold upper section. Refer to HIGH PRESSURE PUMP TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING and INTAKE MANIFOLD UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
