Turbocharger Overview

NOTE:
Follow all the rules of cleanliness. Refer to FUEL SUPPLY, INJECTION SYSTEM AND CHARGING SYSTEM CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Before testing or performing a repair, check all air guide pipes and hoses and all vacuum lines for leaks and secure seating.

- By-pass valve for the exhaust gas recirculation auxiliary cooler.
- With catalytic converter.

- Intermediate Flange
- Removing and Installing. Refer to INTERMEDIATE FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 25 Nm
- O-Ring
- Replace
- Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence, refer to Fig 2.
- Oil Supply Line
- From the cylinder block.
- Bolt
- Depending on version
- Tightening specification and sequence, refer to Fig 2.
- Seals
- Replace
- Banjo Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence, refer to Fig 2.
- Right Air Guide Pipe
- Air Guide Hose
- From the turbocharger to the right air duct pipe.
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 9 Nm
- Air Duct Hose Connection
- From the Mass Airflow Sensor -G70- to the turbocharger.
- Must be free of oil and grease before Installation.
- Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1 -G235-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1 -G235-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Seal
- Replace if damaged.
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 9 Nm
- Turbocharger Heat Shield
- Turbocharger
- With Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724-.
- Turbocharger, Removing and Installing. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724-, Removing and Installing. Refer to Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 30 Nm + 90°
- Replace
- Coat with hot bolt paste, hot bolt paste.
- Seal
- Replace
- Primary Catalytic Converter
- Removing and Installing. Refer to PRIMARY CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Nut
- Replace
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Coat with hot bolt paste
- Seal
- Replace
- Bolt
Tightening specifications:
- 1. Pre-torque to 7 Nm
- 2. Final torque to 9 Nm
- Coat with hot bolt paste
- Oil Return Line Upper Section
- From the turbocharger.
- Bolts
- Tightening specification: 9 Nm
- Oil Return Line Lower Section
- To cylinder block.
- O-Rings
- Replace
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 9 Nm
- Seal
- Replace
- Intermediate Pipe
- Removing and Installing: left, refer to LEFT INTERMEDIATE PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING , for right refer to RIGHT INTERMEDIATE PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 30 Nm + 90°
- Replace
- Coat with hot bolt paste
- Seal
- Replace
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 25 Nm
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 5 Nm +90° turn
NOTE:
Pay attention when tightening bolts -2 and 3- that any turning or bending does not occur on the oil supply line and bracket.
-- Bolt -1- : Set on the engine oil cooler mounting plate and tighten to 9 Nm.
-- Bolt -3- : Set on turbocharger.
-- Bolt -2- : Set on the oil supply line bracket and tighten by hand.
-- Bolt -3- : Tighten to 15 Nm on the turbocharger.
-- Bolt -2- : Tighten to 9 Nm on the oil supply line bracket.
