Engine Support, Removing And Installing: Removal
-- Remove left and right engine bracket, refer to ENGINE MOUNT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the 2 bolts and then remove the steering gear heat shield -A-.
Risk of distorting airbag spiral spring.
- Separate universal joint from steering gear only when front wheels are in straight ahead position.
- Secure steering wheel with adhesive tape to prevent position of steering wheel and steering gear from changing.
-- Remove the bolt -B- for the universal joint. .
-- Remove universal joint from steering gear.
-- Remove the nut -1- on the right longitudinal member and disconnect the ground wire form the threaded pin.
-- Remove the left and right coupling rod nuts -arrow- on the stabilizer bar.
Vehicles through 05/2010:
-- Remove the screw -arrow- and move the Fuel Cooler Pump -V166- to the side.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Lift the clips -1-, loosen the hose clamps -3- and -4- and remove the air duct hoses.
-- Remove the air duct pipe.
Ignore -item 2-.
Vehicles from 06/2010:
-- Remove the cover -2-.
-- Remove the bolt -3- and the balance weight -1-.
All Vehicles:
-- Mark location of subframe and engine carrier to longitudinal members with a felt-tip pen.
The subframe could cause an accident if it is not secured.
- The subframe bolts -2- and the transmission carrier bolts -1- must never be loosened.
-- Remove the bolts -3- and -4- then lower the subframe with the front engine carrier.
-- Remove engine carrier forward.
