Regulator Valve, Removing And Installing, 6.0L (V12): Removing
Follow all safety precautions, refer to WORKING ON FUEL SYSTEM .
Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Open the clamps -3- and unclip the fuel lines -2-.
-- Remove the bolts -1, 4, 5, 8- and the nut -7-.
-- Remove the fuel filter -9- with the fuel hoses still connected and move it to the side.
-- Remove the bracket -6- with the clamps.
-- Place a clean cloth under the separating location to catch any fuel that may leak out.
Very hot fuel can burn your skin.
- In extreme cases, the fuel lines and the fuel itself in vehicles with a common rail engine can be as hot as 100 °C after the engine has been turned off. Let the fuel cool down before opening any line connections otherwise there is a danger of scalding.
- Wear safety gloves
- Wear protective eyewear.
There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under pressure.
- To reduce pressure in fuel system, lay a clean cloth around the connector and carefully loosen connector.
-- Cut the cable tie and remove foam bracket -1- from the regulator valve.
-- Mark the installed position of the fuel hoses.
-- Remove the fuel hoses -2, 3, 4 and 5- from the regulator valve -6- and then remove the regulator valve.
-- Repeat the process on the regulator valve -7-.
