ATF Pipes And ATF Cooler, Cleaning

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Before installing a replacement transmission, always clean out the ATF cooler and ATF pipes using compressed air (maximum 10 bar).

WARNING:

Wear protective eyewear.

-- Clean the following connections thoroughly: ATF pipe/transmission, ATF pipe/thermostat and ATF pipe/ATF cooler.

Place the used oil collecting and extracting deviceV.A.G 1782 underneath.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and the ATF pipes from the ATF thermostat -2-.

-- Remove front ATF pipes to ATF cooler at ATF thermostat -2-. For this, counterhold at ATF thermostat.

-- Remove and empty ATF cooler, flush with ATF if there is heavy contamination, replace if necessary ATF COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolt -3- and then remove the ATF pipes from the transmission.

-- Attach a hose to one transmission/thermostat ATF pipe and secure it with a hose clamp. Hang the other end of the hose in a suitable container.

-- Clear the ATF pipe with compressed air.

-- Connect the hose to the other ATF pipe and repeat the procedure.

-- Installing the ATF cooler, refer to ATF COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the ATF pipes ATF PIPES, ATF THERMOSTAT AND ATF COOLER, 6-CYLINDER 3.6L FSI, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW 

NOTE:

Because ATF pipes from ATF thermostat to ATF cooler were opened, a "ventilation road test" must be performed after ATF check. Afterward, an ATF check must be performed again, see ATF LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING 

ATF cooling circuit can only be bled if ATF temperature is above 75 °C and the thermostat to ATF cooler opens.
