- Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set VAS6131/10, Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set VAS6131/12, Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set VAS6131/13 and Scissor Lift Table - Gearbox Support VAS6131/14.
- Bracket - Multiple Use 30-211A
- Locking Pin T10060A
- Crankshaft Turning Tool T40257
- Wrench - 21mm T40263
- Adapter T40314
- Torx Socket - T60 T40087
- M10 x 45 bolt and nut
Procedure
- Engine/transmission assembly removed and placed on the Scissor Lift Table VAS6131B.
-- Equip the Scissor Lift Table VAS6131B with the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set VAS6131/10 and the Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set VAS6131/12, and Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set VAS6131/13 as follows:
The other attachments remain unchanged.

-- Secure the front Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set - Articulated Joint Support VAS6131/13-7 into the threaded holes in the engine with a M10 x 45 bolt -1- and nut -2-.
-- Install the joint support on the Scissor Lift Table VAS6131B and tighten it to 20 Nm.
-- Attach the mounting elements from the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set VAS6131/10, Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set VAS6131/12, Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set VAS6131/13 and Scissor Lift Table - Gearbox Support VAS6131/14 on the front of the transmission, as shown in illustration.
-- Prepare the mounting elements from Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set VAS6131/12 and Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set VAS6131/13 for supporting the driveshaft as shown in the illustration.
-- Secure the Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set - Mounting Pins VAS6131/12-2 with the M10x35 bolt -arrow- and the washer.
-- Remove the particulate filter bracket bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- from the tab on the preliminary catalytic converter.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and then remove the preliminary catalytic converter and particulate filter.
-- Free up the coolant hoses -arrow-.
-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-, press the coolant pipe on the left side of the transmission to the side.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Remove bolt -1- and loosen bolt -3-.
-- Press the mount -2- and the Cooling Oil Valve -N471- toward the rear.
-- Open the clamps -2 and 4- and the clips -3- to remove the coolant hoses.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then remove the coolant pipe on the left side of the transmission.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- at the transfer case/front driveshaft connection. Refer to TRANSFER CASE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Place a cloth underneath to soak up any escaping ATF.
Observe the rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions. Refer to INFORMATION ON 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 0AT .
-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 3- and then remove the ATF lines from the transmission.
-- Close open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set VAS6122.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and remove the ATF lines.
-- Close open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set VAS6122.
Risk of damage due to reversed running direction on a used ribbed belt.
- Before removing ribbed belt, marking running direction with chalk or felt-tip pen for reinstallation later.
-- Turn the tensioning element clockwise using the Torx Socket - T60 T40087 -arrow- to release the tension on the ribbed belt.
-- Remove the ribbed belt from the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor ribbed belt pulley and stop the tensioner with the Locking Pin T10060A.
-- Remove the cover -1-.
-- Remove the bolt -2- and remove the idler roller.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the generator.
If generator is stuck in its bracket, screw in mounting bolt again up to 2 rotations.
Carefully strike on bolt heads using flat side of hammer - doing this loosens the bushings on the generator mount.
-- Disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Remove terminal 30/B+ -2- from the generator.
-- Remove the generator.
-- Disconnect the starter connector -2-.
-- Remove the nut -1- and then remove the B+ wire form the threaded pin.
-- Remove the engine support bolt -3-.
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and remove the starter.
-- Join the tools as illustrated.
- Socket 21 mm for 1 /2 "-drive
-- Counterhold the crankshaft to loosen the torque converter bolts.
Components could be damaged by the camshaft timing chain jumping off.
- When mounting, turn the crankshaft only in the direction of engine rotation -arrow-.
-- Remove the cover -2-.
-- Turn the crankshaft 120° in the direction of engine rotation and remove the 6 torque converter bolts -1- inside the opening in the starter.
-- Remove the bolts -3 through 10- that attach the engine to the transmission.
-- Loosen the side bolts -1- on the Scissor Lift Table VAS6131B and pull the rear table plate and transmission slightly toward the rear.
-- Push the torque converter off the drive plate and through the opening for the starter.
-- Secure torque converter in transmission against falling out with Bracket - Multiple Use 30-211A.
