Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing: Removing

NOTE:

Before removing selector lever cable, secure a cable on selector lever cable so that it can be threaded easily when installing.

-- Shifter mechanism function unit, removing. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM FUNCTION UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Push the rubber grommet -arrow- forward and out of the selector mechanism function unit lower section.

-- Remove the rear noise insulation -2-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the noise insulation bracket.

Vehicles with a 3.0L TDI Engine

-- Mark the hoses -arrows- for the Differential Pressure Sensor -G505- to the pressure lines on the particulate filter with different colors to prevent mixing them up when installing them later.

-- Pull the hoses -arrows- to the Differential Pressure Sensor -G505- off the pressure lines on the particulate filter.

All Vehicles

-- Remove the bolts -1, 3 and 4- from the selector lever cable heat shield, if equipped.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

-- Move the heat shield to the side.

-- Remove ball head -1- on the selector lever cable from the selector shaft lever using the Pry Lever80-200.

-- Remove the clips -3- and the selector lever cable from the transmission.

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
