Oil Pan Upper Section, Removing And Installing: Installing

NOTE:

Replace seals, gaskets and O-rings.

CAUTION:

Risk of contaminating the lubricating system.

  • Cover open parts of engine.
WARNING:

Danger of eye injury.

  • Wear protective eyewear.

-- Remove sealant residue on the upper section of the oil pan and the cylinder block, for example using a rotating plastic brush.

-- Clean the sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.

NOTE:

Pay attention to the expiration date of the sealant.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: about 3 mm).

-- Insert the seals -1 and 2- into the oil pan upper section.

CAUTION:

The lubrication system could be plugged with excess sealant.

  • Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.

-- Apply the sealant beads -arrows- to the clean sealing surface on the upper section of the oil pan as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:

Install the upper section of the oil pan within five minutes of applying the sealant.

-- Position the oil pan upper section and tighten the bolts. Refer to Figure.

The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

-- Install the left coolant pipe. Refer to LEFT COOLANT PIPE ON ENGINE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the oil pump. Refer to OIL PUMP WITH VACUUM PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the belt pulley side sealing flange. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .

-- Install the oil pump drive chain and the high pressure pump. Refer to OIL PUMP AND HIGH PRESSURE PUMP DRIVE CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the lower timing chain cover. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
