Oil Pan Lower Section, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Engine oil is drained.
-- Remove the air filter. Refer to AIR FILTER .
-- Remove the noise insulation -1 and 2-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left and right engine mount nuts -arrow-.
-- Position the Engine Support Bridge10-222A on the fender bolting edges as shown in the illustration.
- The spindles for the Lifting Tackle3033 are in the back.
-- Remove the 2 bolts and then remove the steering gear heat shield -A-.
The airbag spiral spring could be damaged.
- Separate universal joint from steering gear only when front wheels are in straight ahead position.
- Do not change steering wheel position and steering gear position any more, secure steering wheel with adhesive tape.
-- Remove the bolt -B- for the universal joint. .
-- Remove universal joint from steering gear.
-- Loosen the clamps -1 and 4- and remove the air guide hose.
-- Remove the bolts -2 and 3- and then remove the air guide pipe downward.
-- Raise the engine until engine supports are above engine bracket threaded pins and evenly tension both Lifting Tackle3033 spindles to achieve even weight distribution.
-- Place the Engine/Gearbox JackVAG1383A under the subframe.
-- Remove coupling rods from left and right of stabilizer bar -arrow-.
-- Mark location of subframe and engine carrier to longitudinal members with a felt-tip pen.
The subframe could cause an accident if it is not secured.
- The subframe bolts -2- and the transmission carrier bolts -1- must never be loosened.
-- Remove the bolts -3 and 4- then lower the subframe with the front engine carrier.
-- Disconnect the connector from the Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266- -arrow-.
Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction UnitSMN372500 under the engine.
There is a risk of contamination.
- There is still a residual amount of oil in lower section of oil pan.
-- Loosen and remove the bolts in the following sequence: -14 to 1-.
-- Loosen and remove the oil pan lower section carefully from the adhesive.
