Balance Shaft, Removing And Installing: Removing

• The transmission is removed.

-- Remove the belt pulley side sealing flange. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .

-- Remove the lower timing chain cover. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the camshaft timing chain. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Stop the balance shaft at the rear of the engine with the Diesel Injection Pump Locking Pin3359.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- at the rear of the engine and then remove the drive chain sprocket from the balance weight.

-- Loosen the bolt -arrow- at the front of the engine.

-- Remove the bolt and remove the balance weight from the balance shaft.

-- Remove the nut -arrow- at the rear of the engine and then remove the balance weight for the balance shaft.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the balance shaft bearing end bracket.

-- Remove the balance shaft back out of the cylinder block.
