High Pressure Pump: Removing

-- Remove intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD .

-- Remove the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the oil cooler. Refer to ENGINE OIL COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the coolant shut-off valve. Refer to COOLANT SHUT-OFF VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then tilt the turbocharger bracket -2- to the side.

-- Remove the rear noise insulation -1-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING . .

-- Insert the guide pins for the SocketT40058 as follows:

CAUTION:

Components could be destroyed by the camshaft timing chains jump off.

  • Turn crankshaft only in direction of engine rotation -arrow-.

-- Use the SocketT40058 to rotate the crankshaft to Top Dead Center (TDC).

NOTE:

To collect escaping engine oil, place a clean cloth under the upper oil pan.

-- Remove the locking bolt -arrow- for the TDC marking from the upper oil pan.

-- Install the Crankshaft Holder3242 in the hole and tighten to 20 Nm. Turn the crankshaft -1- back and slightly to completely center the bolt, if necessary.

-- Lock the chain sprocket for the high pressure pump with Locking PinT40245.

CAUTION:
  • Collect escaping fuel with a cloth.
  • Do not let any fuel get on components or gaskets near the engine. This could cause leaks and lead to further damage.
  • Danger of malfunction caused by dirt.
  • Note, refer to FUEL SYSTEM SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 

-- Remove the union nuts -arrows- and then remove the right high pressure line -1-.

-- Remove the union nuts -arrows- and then remove the left high pressure line -1-.

-- Seal off all open lines and connections with clean plugs.

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

NOTE:

Place a clean cloth under the separating point to catch the escaping fuel.

-- Remove fuel hose by loosening the hose clamps -3 and 4-.

NOTE:

Ignore -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the high pressure pump.
