Fuel Injectors, Adapting Correction Values

• The "injector quantity calibration" and the "injection pressure calibration" correct the injection quantity for each cylinder individually in the Common Rail (CR) system over the entire characteristic map.

• The 7-digit adaptation values -1- are stamped on each injector (example). The stamped values can be letters and/or numbers.
• Using the designation table to read the designation on the fuel injector.

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Vehicle Diagnostic Tester

The procedure for doing the adaptation is described in "Guide Fault Finding". The procedure is also described under "Guided Functions". Use a Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

After replacing an injector, the adaptation value must be programmed into the Engine Control Module (ECM).

-- Check all the other fuel injectors as well regarding their "injector quantity calibration" and "injection pressure calibration" to see if the adaptation values were entered correctly. If the correct adaptation values have been saved to the ECM, they must not be reentered.

-- The "injector quantity calibration values" and the "injection pressure calibration" must be downloaded into the new ECM if the ECM is being replaced.
