Fuel Injection And Ignition System, Safety Precautions

To reduce the risk of personal injury and/or damage to the fuel injection and ignition system, always observe the following:
- Individuals with a pacemaker must not stay in the danger area of high voltage systems, e.g. ignition systems, xenon light.
- Do not touch or remove ignition wires when engine is running or turning at starter speed.
- The ignition must be switched off before connecting or disconnecting injection and ignition system wiring or tester cables.
- Wash the engine only when the ignition is turned off.
- Disconnect the connectors form the ignition coils if the engine is supposed to be driven by the cranking speed so that the engine cannot start (for example, when performing a compression test), refer to IGNITION COILS WITH POWER OUTPUT STAGES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Also remove the fuse for the Fuel Pump Control Module -J538-, refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
- If the connectors were disconnected and the engine was started, then malfunctions have been stored in the engine control module DTC memory.
CAUTION:
Risk of damaging electronic components when disconnecting the battery.
- Observe the steps for disconnecting the battery.
- Always turn off the ignition before disconnecting the battery.
