Front Driveshaft Assembly Overview

NOTE:

General repair notes. Refer to the appropriate service information .

Driveshaft CV joints may only be moved without force and only as far as their stops, which is a 10° angle.

Repair work must not be performed on the driveshaft.

If driveshaft is removed only from transfer case or from front final drive, the driveshaft must be tied up to the body or supported.

Before removing driveshaft, mark position of CV joint to front final drive flange. Re-install in the same position otherwise imbalance will be excessive, the bearings could be damaged causing rumbling noises.

If droning noises occur when driving, remove front driveshaft from flange at front final drive, rotate one hole relative to flange and attach again.

If droning sounds can still be heard, front driveshaft can be rotated from front final drive and rotated back in offset by one hole a total of 5 times.
