Fuel System, Filling/Bleeding
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Due to the engine design and the fuel supply pump installed in the fuel tank, do not bleed the fuel system.
The fuel system bleeds itself when the starter is operated.
After working on the fuel delivery unit, the fuel supply line to the metering pump must be bled on vehicles with a parking heater.
- Parking heater switched off.
-- Connect the Suction Pump:VAS 5226 to the compressed air.
-- Remove the fuel supply line -2- from the fuel tank at the metering pump -1-.
-- Connect the Suction Pump:VAS 5226 to the fuel supply line using the adapter from the Hand Vacuum Pump:VAS 6213 and bleed it by extracting briefly.
-- Re-install the fuel supply line to the metering pump.
-- Switch on the parking heater and let it run approximately 10 minutes at wide open throttle.
